Benja Harney's The Paper Attic

An accordion, beam, mirror, mouse hole, books, meccano, obelisks, buoy, picture frame, champagne bottles, records, clock, rocket, cogs, rocking horse, dolls furniture, self portrait, hat, spiders web, ice skates, umbrella, window and jewellery box - All works made from paper.

Sydney-based Paper Engineer and friend, Benja Harney celebrated his first solo show 'The Paper Attic', tonight to a packed crowd at Object Gallery in Surry Hills. These intricately crafted works resemble objects that one might find within an attic room. In this curious space, Benja recreates a room where discarded objects such as old records, a rocking horse, ice-skates and books sit forgotten and discarded. The room is complete with architectural features inclusind a sash window and found objects.

During Sydney Design 2011, Object will be staying awake on Thursday nights. Join Benja in the gallery between 5-8pm on the 11 August.

See the exhibition, which was curated by Tara D'cruz-Noble, until 25 September 2011.
